Description

Jock (jocko500) has a beautiful and fascinating gallery. His photographs and paintings show his wide interests. One of the things I love is that they often show South Louisiana. I was born in South Louisiana, but moved when I was 11. In his captures I see a land that is both a part of me, and not always familiar. He is a perfect person to explore with, and when I visit my mom in Lake Charles, I try to get together with Jock for a day of exploration and photography. Last March, on a lovely spring day, Jock, two of his friends, and I spent a day at a place that stirs vague memories for me. My family and I used to go to Sam Houston State Park. I remember the name. I remember tire swings and tall trees. And I have a slide from a day that I don't remember, but I was there. It was taken in 1958 by my grandfather. My grandparents, parents, sisters, Aunt Sally, and I went to the park. It was a holiday and all the picnic tables had been taken, so we spread a quilt on the ground. The slide was little worse for wear, and very blue toned, but I have done the best I can with it and I hope you like this look into the past. In the back, with the bottle is me. Going clockwise from me is my grandmother, Aunt Sally and my sister, Leslie. The second picture, (Sam Houston JONES State Park), I took on the day that Jock and I went last March. happy you find the old photo of you and added it to the photo you took early this year also. it like a time capsule for you. yes I been here to when I was young . all I remember was a big bbq and my dad getting after me for pouring coke on my head. lol. thank you also
