Description

This butterfly I photographed in early summer, here near our house. I saw him on the heath too, and have several pictures of this butterfly, which you don't often see here. We call it: Jacobsvlinder. Thank you a lot for your lovely words on my previous upload.

I never even SEE butterflies, let alone get a picture, let alone have one land on my hand and let me take a picture! LOL! I don't know what you did to get this, but I'm suitably impressed. :)

I don't know if I am right, but I think it may be what we call a five or 6 spot day flying Burnet Moth. Super photograph Mies. You have such patience. We are lucky to have you. We were walking by the old inclined plain and canal near Ironbridge, Shropshire, years ago, and on that day the Burnets were just hatching on the very small purple orchids. We could pick them up by the handful and they were all over our arms and heads. To feel them gradually pumping "blood'' into their veins to strengthen their wings was absolutely magical. I will never ever forget that experience. Thankyou for the memory.
