Description

All my Art student girl lodgers this year are Chinese, and so on their return I received lovely gifts. This is Qing (pronounced Ching) and her present of high end Mooncakes made with real Lotus paste. You can read all about the mid-Autumn Festival and the recipes for and symbolism of this very Chinese treat Here It is well worth the click if the info is new to you.

Ah so, lovely pictures of honorable mooncakes, Ms Andrea. Moonraker, moon river, moonbeam, moonlight, moonfish, moonfaced, moon gate, moon glow, moonscape, moonshine, moonshot, moon pies, moonwort, and moon over Miami also come to mind.

So very interesting, other Countries with other traditions and celebrations ... years ago, we had a Japanese student staying with us. He was going for his pilot license, (then) we lived so close to the airport and his Mother used to send us the most interesting things to eat and always send him plenty of knitted white socks, with 5 space/pockets separately knitted for each toe and for each sock - it looked hilarious and he loved them! ;P BB

This was very nice of her. And so, forevermore, Qing will be known as "Mooncakes". I do hope you gave them a nibble. I will try the recipe and see what my Chinese friends thinks of them.

Thanks for the link Andrea - it was very helpful. I thought that the lower left photo was a cookie and the link solved that problem. Were they delicious? I see that Rosie knew that Qing had sweets in her gift bag! :)
