I finished, here's a final render! The models are all exports from Daz3d (where I did the posing), for final rendering in Lightwave, apart from the DRD style mini drones which I modelled myself, though I did add a few elements, notably the green lights on the cryotanks, and the wall displays. There are three different human figures, the aliens are in 3 poses, the cryotanks were exported in 3 stages of opening. The lighting took ages to work out - there are three different large area lights at the top rear of the scene for soft lighting, with one end one a bit red and other a bit green. There are also long area lights with falloff in front of the strip light like parts, and spherical lights with fall off in front of the single lights. There are also luminous polygons inside the tanks which are invisible to the cameras. There's two bounce radiosity in the scene, I'm aiming for soft shadows with dark and barely lit corners. Tanks and setting are by the consistently excellent Stonemason. There was a suggestion in the WIP thread over on F3D that the seated alien should have a knife and fork, I took this one step further, and gave him a book mentioned in an old episode of "The Twilight Zone". The alien text on it matches the original. There's an original trek medical display screen or two in there, for the others I just did image searches for things that looked techie. It's a large render to show the details, you really won't see it properly unless you view it full size! I hope you like it, feedback good and bad is very welcome.
