Description
Harvest time is usually the end of the growing season. It often symbolizes the end of something, like summer. I often associate harvest as both the end of summer and the beginning of fall, as here it tends to overlap both. I also think of harvest season as an end of eras and traditions - sort of the period they fade away into extinction. I also tend to see the changes in family traditions as this sort of seasonal change in our lives.
My inspiration for this one came from the thought of my great grandparents farm. I know we had been shown where it was when we were kids, and I know where about it is still, but I cannot find it anymore. I don't know if it has undergone some miraculous transformation and is now unrecognizable, or has it gone back to it's original state and been reclaimed by the weeds, brush, and trees. Has it been torn down, or has years of weather and neglect caused to to crumble to the earth it once rested upon.
It is this sort of change in life, the fact that stages of life have progressed and one cannot go back to some of those times that proceeded the one we're in now. A simple fact that sometimes you can't go back home. The fact that life continues, grows more complicated, and your time remaining begins to seem short; and all you would really like to do is go back and see those things you missed or didn't feel were as important then, but can't revisit now.

It was more than tradition that brought about the time of harvest, For harvest was the reward for steady, day in and day out application of ones self to the land. Imagine a farmer using the College Student's method of Cramming to achieve a harvest - not a valid application of the agrarian's time. It was such a different time because the land is both a harsh taskmistress, and a generous provider. Your thoughts do well as a springboard to evoke the esoteric musing. Very Well Done (both image and thoughts)
