Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

What a lovely photograph. Sorry you are missing your daughter - but at least with modern communication methods you can stay in touch. :-)

In the shade of the old apple tree When the love in your eyes I could see When the voice that I heard, like the song of the bird Seemed to whisper sweet music to me.... Much poignancy in this wonderful image, Jodie. I know they're apples, but the do look like mushrooms at the bottom of the pic.

I'm not here much anymore, but an upload from you is always an event. A thoughtful and restful capture, of a beautiful shaded view of (I assume) Megan, in your countryside (for some reason it makes me think of Ireland even though I've never been there), with her looking into the warm rolling background...Every parent I know has spoken of the strange, sweet and sad moment when their children go away at last...sweet because it's such a beginning, and sad because it's also an end of sorts. Your photo captures both, but with an emphasis on the sweetness above all. And the apples, yes, do look a bit like mushrooms, lol (ala Harry), but they're a lovely illumined hue, lighting up the ground like little elves. Technically, you've lined up her hat with the line of the background ridge, which is then picked up by the right-low branch of the tree, etc: All stuff one expects from your seasoned professional eye...A lovely shot, filled with shadow and repose, the shadow maybe harmonizing with your words "my shadow," in a very restful capture. I can only surmise what sending one's beloved children into the world feels like, as I'm not a parent; but this shot shows it as a bit of sadness mixed with a large embracing presence of love; and it's tinged in a late summer brownish, rusty green. Lovely, Jodie, and I hope all is well with you and your loved ones. Your eye (as extended by your trusty D90) is as gentle and alive as ever.
