Description
The Taipan is an Australian snake with an extremely toxic venom. It is one of the most dangerous snakes in the world. Many human deaths have resulted from bites by this species. The venom will clot your blood, blocking arteries or veins, and death usually occurs within 1 hour. Before the advent of antivenin, there were NO known survivors of Taipan bites. It's venom is 16 times more potent than that of a Cobra. And the best news of all..........it's favorite place to live is along the major population centers of Australia!!!!!!
So if you need a well earned holiday, come on down!

Wow! They are hot! Superb capture!

I think we need a few of those to visit a special place in America Great capture from the description of what the venom does, it sounds more like a hemotoxin than a neural toxin

Yes Mike you are right. As far as I understand, it has a complex venom that causes paralysis or muscle weakness, as well as the procoagulants that interfere with a victims blood. I just mentioned some of the lovely things it does, but yeah I'm no expert on all the wonderful problems I'm sure it can cause the unlucky soul who gets bitten!! The one pictured is the coastal variety. The inland Taipan is even worse!!!!!! LOL

Yikes, I think I'll stay away from that one, thanks anyway. Snakes aren't among my favourite creatures, although they don't usually creep me out too badly. This one looks mad, though.

I think I know of the place in which Faemike refers. The snake even has a mean look about him. Nice shot.
