Description

City of Edinburgh For full experience - zoom!! Walking around in the the central Edinburgh it is no surprise that this beautiful city is listed as World Herritage (UNESCO). Every step up and down of what is called "The Royal Mile" and the nearby streets and areas are so filled with beautiful architechture and places. Edinburgh was as many other old European cities placed behind its city walls until these was finally seen more as a restriction in development than anything else and were torn down.. But this also gives the city its great charm today, tight and narrow streets and roads where any available square foot counts. The only thing to be extreme adware of as pedestrian to day is, for a city with this size of roads, a very heavy, sometimes very fast moving traffic extreme close to the pavements. Top image. In Canongate lies The "Museum of Edinburgh", the yellow and the neighboring "tripple-top" building right which is absolutely worth a visit. Just opposite (bottom center) lies another interesting museum "The People's Story". The blue chairs left in both images show the relative placement of the two buildings. My main interest here was architecture and these buildings were just two fine examples of old houses in Edinburgh. If you look at the bottom image you can follow Cannon Street and its continuations, High Street, the Lawn Market and finally Castlehill, leading direct up to Edinburgh Castle (showing some shots later) These streets (including Abbey Strand) leading from Edinburgh Castle down to Holyrod Palace (The Monarch's official residence in Scotland) are in common named "The Royal Mile." All for now :o) JohnnyC / Rhanagaz
