At my office door, Abdul Ali took the briefcase from the Major saying " perhaps Mr Tailspin can entertain you, while we men talk business". Tailspin made an over dramatic bow and said " my pleasure, there's usually a fresh pot of coffee in the Staffroom, this way..", he indicated down the corridor. Relieved of the briefcase, the Major seemed to relax and set off with Tailspin to find the refreshments. Rock took up position outside my door, scanning the corridor for threats and wishing he was on the external detail so he could have a 'cig'... In the Staffroom, Tailspin had poured two coffees and offered one to the Major, who was standing looking at a picture on the wall. " Interesting place " she said. Tailspin sipped his coffee and said " My favourite holiday destination, I go there every year, very liberal attitudes towards clothes and relationships..... probably not your kind of place". The Majors reply surprised Tailspin, " I've been there several times, my Father has a beach front property, in fact my Mother lives there, she's the........." her voice trailed off as she said "never mind....does anyone else from The Plant go there" ? Tailspin thought for a moment and said " well Neiwil says that if things get really tough he can always run to 'Sexotic Island', but I've never known him run anywhere....I've never seen him there and we've had some pretty tough times, so probably just me! " On the other side of The Plant, Peter Petty wasn't having a good day......I'd realised a visit was due, though not this early, and as Stan in the Paintshop had finished re-spraying Pedro's new Spitfire, I'd set him a task. He was to go around The Plant and make sure all H&S related signage was in place, up to date and in good order. Paintbox and easel in hand he had set off, six days ago and we hadn't seen him since, I wasn't worried, Stan would not resurface until the job was done. Now as Petty stood in the Engine Shop it was obvious Stan had already been there, everything was in order, just like all the other departments he'd inspected.....nothing to complain about....Petty hated that ! In my office, Abdul Ali had browsed the catalogues and made his choice, six F-15's, four Lightnings and one of our new Hawker Siddley Tridents with the 'Flying Casino' upgrade. Contracts signed we headed for the staffroom with Rock in tow, as I reached for the door handle I hesitated. Tailspin was on the other side of this door with an attractive young woman, her Father was beside me along with a rather grumpy, armed bodyguard. Then I thought to myself, don't be stupid! it's the staffroom....I turned the handle and pushed,.........the door had barely started to open when Tailspin's voice was heard, saying " lift your butt, point your toes". The door swung open, my heart stopped, what followed was a sort of vocal Mexican wave, as I said "MY GOD!" followed by Abdul Ali saying "MY DAUGHTER" and Rock immediately after with " MY BELOVED!"... Abdul Ali and I turned from the scene before us, looked at each other, then turning to Rock we said in unison "PARDON" ??...but Rock was on the move......
