Description

This is the church of All Saint's Wistow in North Yorkshire the limestone church seen here was completed in 1213, the image is a single RAW file processed in Photomatix Pro. and yes the clouds were on the dark side but added to the overall ambience, the graveyard is subject to some subsidence hence the leaning stones! An impressive church. Had the houses not in the background, I would assign them a John Carpenter movie. The clouds come good. Like a sword of Damocles hanging over the Church. Super made, Rob!

Every mortal stone of the church is shown clearly in this super photograph...."Stands the Church clock at ten to three?"...no it stands at quarter to two, but artistic licence prevails. When you think that the church was once the centre of village/town life, all bound by births, marriages and deaths........photographs such as this invoke strange, sad feelings of regret, even to me, like the dying out of the dinosaurs.
