Description
Here, some of the "Mars Voyager" crew are commenting on the tables. The tables and some other furnishings aboard the transit craft are designed for easy stowage and deployment. The crew ends up not using the furnishings until a formal occassion called for it. This image is from the same graphic novel that my posting yesterday (On Mars) came from.
I did the Mars Voyager spacecraft interior model and although it doesn't look as spectacular as some models I've seen here, its design is based on how I imagined NASA would do it. The emphasis being on portability, functionality and cost savings. The little blue squares are velcro pads which are common in actual NASA manned spacecraft.
Each of the tan cubicles in the background are portable crew quarters. Where NASA currently has built in sleep quarters for space station crews, I came up with portable sleep quarters which allow additional modules to be added as the reusable transit craft is expanded for subsequent trips to supply the expanding Mars outpost.
