Description

I was out doing the "Magic Hour" thing and found this jewel in spite of the fog. The darkened silhouette of the forest in the foreground allowed the diffused light of the morning to create a wonderful fantasy scene behind. Really draws the eye in. Nikon D5100. ISO 100. 55mm. f/5.6 1/8 sec. Post work in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Yep, a great capture.. I also like the brightness of the foliage in the foreground, vs the muted tones of the background.

I would say you found this jewel because of the fog, not in spite of the fog. In some ways this looks more like a print than a photo in part because there is such a strong contrast between the richly detailed and yet very dark pine tree and the bright misty distance. I really like the square crop and bold framing. Finely constructed.

Beautiful photo. Well composed. It really conveys the feeling of cool dampness I'm so familiar with. It's often like this now when I'm off to the bus. Winter is approaching. The fog is the main character in this photo and you've captured it well. Keep up the good work! I wasn't aware you are a good photographer as well as a good CG artist. :-)
