Description

"PARKING LOT BIRDS" I don't know the name of these birds, but they seem to inhabit parking lots all over town. They are scavenging for bits of food and water around the cars. These two look much better than some of the birds. Full size will show the bottom bird with a found prize in its mouth. Thanks for viewing my gallery and your comments.

From a search of the net, I think they are Boat-tailed Grackles. The write-up on What Bird . com says "Boat-tailed Grackle: Large, black bird with a very long, keel-shaped tail. Male is iridescent blue-black with yellow or brown eyes. Black bill is slender and long. Legs and feet are gray. Forages walking on ground and wading in water. Strong direct flight with rapidly beating wings." These look a little raggedy but fit the description. Great capture!

GrandmaT, Thanks for the research. Your description sure sounds like these birds. I always figured that they were some distant relative of a crow. JC

LOL, make me think of vultures! They obviously are much like the seagulls we have here around the Great Lakes. Go by any fast food outlet or park and your sure to be under their eye as they look for food. Very good catch of some interesting birds!

Brilliant capture especially of the bird with its dinner. Both would look good in a Halloween scene I think, hugs Jane xx
