Description

Today I tried to make a "real" 3D image. Because our beloved 3D models are always shown in 2D in our screens. Isn't possible to view our creation in 3D? Yes, we can, as Barrack Obama would say. So I made myself a stereo camera (4" parallel) in Studio and renders both images. Then I have to shrink them to a stampformat, otherwise my brain can't coop with the distance between the two images. I still make more experiments with a different camera distance mutual. You will see if it brings any improvement. Here is what you have to do. Very simple, but my wife couldn't do it. Focus your left eye on the left picture and your right eye on the right one. Then there will appear a stereo image between the two images. Very nice and wonderful if I may say so myself. You have to practice some time I think, but within an hour I can focus immediately on the images.

Yes I can get the 3D image to appear in the center of the original two images by focusing my eyes on a spot in the middle of the two images and slightly beyond the screen, like I was looking at something that is about 6 inched behind the two images. Initially the two original pictures will be very blurry. This is a fun exercise. I wish the two pictures were larger tho. I think it would make it easier to achieve the intended effect.

Great idea, I used to be able to do this but my eyes aren't what they used to be. Any time I try now, I end up with blurred vision and a nasty headache (glasses don't seem to help).

What will help Mark is put a carton or paper between the two pictures and your eyes as a fence to avoid looking over it with one eye to the other side. Or use two tubes.
