Description

Many thankyou's for all your thoughtful comments and smiles left on my last pic. FE The Rowan leaves are turning to gold and their clusters of berries gleam like tiny rosy apples. I have three self sown ones - thankyou to my friends the birds - in my garden, and they fruit from an early age. This song has a special meaning to me. Oh, rowan tree! Oh, rowan tree ! Thou'lt aye be dear tae me Entwined thou art wi' mony ties o’ hame and infancy Thy leaves were aye the first o' spring, thy flow'rs the summer pride There wasnae sic a bonny tree in a' the countryside Oh! rowan tree ! All have a lovely weekend.

Outstanding! A special tree to me too! I've seen them hanging onto mountain sides with little soil evident, battered by winds and snow. Their roots must penetrate rock! I've seen them covered with feeding Waxwings (A sight I will treasure) scoffing the ripe red berries. I've made country wines from the berries myself too! I have even seen them exhibited as top class bonsai in pots. Bonsai being another of my hobbies.

I agree with all that. They are tenacious Kevin - and grow where practically nothing else will hang on.. I'd love to have seen them with the Waxwings too -a really special memory for you. I've made wine with lots of wild stuff but never never with Rowan berries. I bet it was good. You are a man with many hobbies and many gifts.
