Description
It somehow happened every fall dance. Some unknowing young man would be lured out by a beautiful young lady that they'd never seen in town, but they would never be taken by the hand, just by sight of her; but they would always follow. Once outside, the young lady would motion for them to follow her, and they always did. First around the corner of the hall, then once they came around the corner they'd spot her motioning for them to come further, always without a sound.
They would keep following her, losing sight of her, then spotting her again only to see her motioning to continue. Many a wiser man would have stopped, thinking it must be some trick; but they would always followed her. Little by little they'd find themselves away from the hall and at the back of the old collapsing barn on the property of where the dance hall sat.
Once they would reach the back of the barn, they would turn the corner and never see her again. They would stand and look, peaking into the barn, around the other sides, and even in the bushes and trees surrounding it. They would never find her. Those few who chose to call out for her were only met with the faint sounds of a woman crying followed by a sinister laugh.
Some reasoned it was the ghost of Jessica Pfarner, who had mysteriously disappeared nearly seventy years ago and was never seen again. Others simply dismissed it as their imagination. None would ever forget their otherwise harmless experience.
Thanks so much for taking a moment to view my render and read my short story. Have a great evening!

Well done!

Oh yes, no mystery here. That was the ghost of Jessica Pfarner, for sure, merely playing with the minds and desires of the young men who dared follow her ephemeral image. That said, cool, cool rendering of the femme fatale.
