Description

What a surprise I had yesterday. Who would have taught that i would see and photograph a owl in Pretoria,. This is a rarity and a surprise for me as it was during daytime that i took this picture of the owl.I had a look in one of my bird books and this looks like a Spotted Eagle Owl. Please do correct me if i am wrong God bless.

What a little beauty! I'd love to see an owl, but the only ones I have ever spotted have been in zoos. I know they must be all around here in the Northwest, but they must be really, really good at hiding! Not sure of the ID, but I'd guess a pearl spotted owlet; scroll down here. Does that look like what you saw?

Beautiful owl. These are my favourite creatures and I think this one is so wonderful as its eye colour is in total contrast to the colour of its feathers. Superb capture.
