Description
The view from the hill behind my house, taken today right before the sun disappeared behind the hill across the road.
I've been taking a digital photography class the last few weeks & my instructor has asked us to experiment more with using manual mode on our cameras. I tend to take most of my photos in one of the automatic modes & lean on Photoshop to make the necessary adjustments, but I'm enjoying learning to use manual mode more effectively in challenging lighting situations.
Please zoom.

Oooooo, very nice. Like your composition and the layered effect of the hills in the background. You can be endlessly creative using manual mode...keep it going:)

Great shot of landscape very well done !

Whatever you did, I love the result! If you leave the EXIF data on, I can peek around the curtain and maybe learn something from your class! :)
photosynthesis
Unfortunately, Tara, the EXIF data takes space away from the image & would make it that much harder to compress it down to under 500kb. And despite what I may be learning in this class (which is really basic stuff I'm sure you already know), I will continue to be more focused on the creative aspects of photography rather than the technical.

I think perhaps I should also take a course like this. Nice shot.

Une autre belle image de l'automne, belle transition entre les feuillage et les montagnes avec l'alignement des sillons et des plantations.

Beautiful view, gorgeous capture!

It's a lovely composition and landscape, I rarely use my camera on auto as I learned photography on a manual Pentax K1000 and now I always shoot in Raw as I don't like the camera applying anything to the image.
photosynthesis
Rob - I still think auto works very well for the majority of common lighting situations & it definitely saves time. I often shoot on hikes or while traveling with other people & the time factor means they don't have to wait for me. As for RAW, my camera doesn't have that capability, so I have no choice.

Awesome picture!!!!!!!!

Lovely to look at. Love the way the mountains reduce in opacity as they recede into the distance.

Lovely.

I love the graduated outlines of those hills as they recede; it's a hard step to move off that green button, but you'll be so incredibly glad you did!
photosynthesis
Actually, on my camera it's a red button, but I get your point. I'm not renouncing the red button, but it's good to have a backup when it doesn't quite do the job...

Beautiful! You must have some really short winter days.

Your class is paying off. Excellent capture.

Beautiful landscape. This is one place that I would love to visit. It has mountains, fields and trees and you have captured them all so well.

A beautiful view and I like the layer of fog over the foothills!
