Description

The Wood Cauliflower fungus. This sort grows at the base of conifers. I liked the light in this picture, ans also all the other stuff round the fungus.

The light really is gorgeous, and I love your composition! I can almost feel the softness of cedar, the sharp poke of holly, the creamy texture of a maple leaf not yet dried, and the brittle crunch of brown-dead leaves. This is glorious! You make me miss autumn ... it doesn't happen down here in the desert!

It looks very fresh and young, was you tempted to try it to eat? I have never found it looking so good, superb shot and find!

Sterling lighting effects dominate this fine pc of the Sparassis crispa, which bears a moderate resemblance to my breakfast cinnamon tainted oatmeal.

Excellent capture, and doesn't this fungus look pretty much like pasta... and I do believe this can be eaten but again I say that with caution because 100% of the game is identity and whilst this one is clearly that type it can be easy to mistake some others with disastrous consequences. There is a thin line between edible and poisonous fungus, they can grow quite large.

This is a wonderful image. With the holly leaves its looks like you have the makings of a Christmas wreath. I agree with Mark-David-Rogers. A rather attractive fungus but I'm thinking lasagna noodles.

A great capture and I like the lighting also. The Wood Cauliflower fungus looks like something that should be at the bottom of a large aquarium. An excellent find!
