Description
My daughter-in-law has kept a bird in the same small cage for over twenty years.....I always wonder if he would rather be flying free....

Did I tell you my hawk came to visit me last week? He was waiting & when I passed him, he took off & flew with me for quite a ways. Owls, hawks, snakes? Wonder if someone is trying to tell me something. O.O Lol. Love this stark emotional image, Linda. Very striking! ")

Um... he flew. I was in a car. :D

Cool. I just love the hawks and their freedom to fly anywhere. He's watching over you.

The lady, the pose, the hawk, the textures and morphing of the rocks - all superb. This image definitely goes that extra step beyond technically very good work, there is emotional content. The best compliment I can give to another artist is "I wish I had done that." Nuff said.

Linda, you have outdone yourself with this one...I like how you've handled the lighting here--how it shines off her shoulder...An underlying theme, whether intentional or just my own reading into the scene, perhaps is out of despair can come hope. As an aside. NYC has, for a city, a fairly large hawk population to help control the pigeon population. Here in Forest Hills, we have one hawk. S/he shows up around my apartment complex a lot, and I do believe had a nest on the roof of one of our buildings...The pigeons are terrified of her and you can always tell if she is nearby by the lack of pigeons flying around--and if a pigeon is brave enough to venture out in the open, it flies so low that you can almost hear its belly scraping the ground...This past spring I saw two of them flying around my neighborhood--looks like our hawk found a mate...Haven't seen them around lately, so I do hope some idiot hasn't hurt them--lots of really stupid people in the city when it comes to wildlife...

Wow, 20 years, that's a long time. What kind of bird was it? Beautiful work as always and the lighting is really nice!

He is a green Senegal parrot. She named him Oscar the Grouch. I always thought I'd be grouchy, too, if confined in a cage.
