Description


Tremella mesenterica on dead Gorse. This splendid fungus is soft and gelitinous and yellow when young, becoming bright orange and shrivelled with age.

Such a vibrant orange, great find and excellent capture. I don't think it's poisonous but alas reputedly tastes bland, the Japanese use it in soups but it's not really much point... again probably best avoided.

Turning 66 two weeks ago I know just how it feels although I haven't turned orange as yet. This is a wonderfully clear and colorful image. It is strangely attractive.
