Description
Heading for the cottage there is a choice, stay on the main roads which is easier but a longer journey.....or go 'over the top', shorter and not necessarily quicker but definitely more picturesque. On this occasion we went up and over. Narrow, twisty road, you never know what's ahead......well we rounded a bend and were met by this. I've seen it cloudy, I've seen low cloud but I've never seen anything like this before. You can see the road off to the right, it runs to that lone tree and swings right and descends into the valley...that was something else but sadly photographs were not an option....both hands on the wheel and one foot hovering over the brake!!!! Karen did video it though....may upload that later.

'Over the top' is definitely the best option. Never seen cloud as low as that before either and it makes for a stunning view mate! The video would be good to see.

Beware monsters ahead! I have seen enough scary movies to know you should turn around.

Outstanding view!!.. awesome how the clouds are just rolling into the valley.. Great shot!

Whenever you can, take the scenic route. Always more interesting. We get that kind of cloud action along the Kentucky River where there are low, rolling hills. Spooky looking on some days. That is a fabulous photo!

Wow now this is down right amazing! And the cottage.......WOW again. Bloody great shot. Just look at that cloud on the left. I bet it was a tad cold mate. 5/5 from me.

Spectacular..... must have been an awesome drive...but worth every blind corner, oxcart, and goat on the road to capture such a vista!

a lovely panorama view

Looks like steam rising from a volcano...or dust from a galloping mass of horses...or a stealth attack by clouds sneaking up out of the valley...or forest fire...or... The clouds really make the mystic/mysterious in this photo. My imagination runneth away with me! If possible, could you do frame grabs from the video your wife made? It would be cool to see this closer up (or inside). I can just imagine what it's like driving in fog like that on a small serpentine road! A bit unnerving! I recall the bus ride down from Yosemite Valley in thick fog - steep down on one side, steep up on the other, and with 2 narrow lanes, and rocks by the roadside that had tumbled down. Not such a nice view on the steep down side, with a few (old) car wrecks stuck against trees and bushes. Glad you got there safely, and back. Looking forward to some dramatic frame grabs! :-)

Spectacular Neil. We go over the top 98% of the time...main roads only when no others exist. Have a great trip or hope you had a great trip...whichever applies:)
