Description
I once had a great, great Aunt who lived in Northern Wales. On family visits, I would eschew the dreaded family crush and head out into the woods, but always with a warning from my Aunt, "Have fun, don't get lost, and DO NOT cross through the Ancient Gate." The gate was obvious (at least to a wondering boy), buried in a deep thicket on the other side of the fen. I circled it many times, but heeded the warning about passing through. In my imagination I passed through only once and was met by the guardian pictured here. "You live only because you bear the mark, but even that does not yet allow passage. Be gone until your time!"
Let me point out that Path 8 from Vikike is amazing. Just zoom and look at the detail! Thanks for looking and putting up with my ramblings :)

Good image and accompanying tale. My grandma used to say "Stay on the path, don't go into the woods or bears will git ya." It was not until I was grown that I learned there were no bears in those Pennsylvania woods; it was my grandmother's way of making sure I wouldn't wander off into the woods and get lost. Worked too. Plus I have to this day a healthy regard for bears.
