My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

interesting capture

Atmospheric. Front end of a truck as I recall. These objects portray the litter and decay that accompanies an area in economic free-fall. I've seen it in several cities but never in the great outdoors like this before.

creative shot

All around is ruin and desolation. And then, in the midst of it all is this nearly pristine headlight. There is a story in there somewhere. Nice capture.

I wonder where it all comes from. I'm assuming that is just garbage dumped there.

The headlight is a great contrast against all this loss and barreness

Excellent capture, Tara :)

Every neglected and thrown away piece should have story. Would be interesting to hear them. Nice shot. Rick

A fascinating abstract, and a compelling look at the decay of a failed community - most excellent, Tara!

The cutout filter is pretty good for "In your face form" Nice one auntie. Dee is tucked up for the night, so i thought I'd whiz over and post and catch up on comments :) We are having a nice time here, and I hope you and William are enjoying your latest excursion :)

Believe it or not, we had a TV programme on our Ethnic channel SBS - called 'Countdown To A Catastrophe' on Monday night and it featured Salton Sea (amongst a many other stories) and it appeared not a man-made disaster, but triggered underground by natural impacts ... It was totally fascinating, but all too short, before I realised it was the place you two have been visiting and photographing BTW - I think it was made by the German ZDF, Cologne (?) BB Anyhow - to make along story short, this looks like a super abstract - a striking image ! ;P
