Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

A charming capture, It was a shame the placement of Buddy never worked out for all the dogs, what I can make of it she was the one who enjoyed his presence... but it was clearly the only decision you could make for the good of every other member of the family. Been checking the site now and then to see if he has been reserved yet, I'm sure it's only a matter of time... just need the right family to turn up on the day. Of course a dog is for life and not just for Christmas as should be any pet.

Rosie, you are my posie, You are my heart's bouquet, Come out here in the moonlight, There's something sweet love, I wanna say........ (Al Jolson) Terrific backlighting and focus in this poignant portrait of your only female doggie, Andrea. She is either exhausted from her short relationship with Buddy, or was sorry to see him go.

Oh, she looks a little bit sad, Andrea. I'm sure she misses her friend. But how adorable Rosie is!

What an adorable face, a little on the sad side ... highlighted by the white blanket - which brings out the facial expressions really well. a fine portrait, Andrea BB

so pretty and a lucky girl.

Despite all the comments about Rosie appearing sad, I see a relaxed, sleepy pup. Rosie is utterly precious, but then, so is each of your pack. We got lucky with Leya, she is perfect for us as we are both still quite active. But .. if we had gotten her when Murphy and/or the B-dog were still alive, she would not have worked out at all. She is the perfect dog for us now, and was meant to come to us at this time. So I believe anyway. Buddy will find his perfect forever home. Someone will come along, like we did for Leya, at just the right time in their lives and Buddy will be the perfect dog for them, just as Leya is for us.
