Description

We went to the dog track and watched the races. It was fun. My son and his family came to enjoy the evening. It was a celebration for his 33rd birthday. I tried to capture the dogs running... They look like ghosts. They run fast, quote from Wikipedia, It is a gentle and intelligent breed whose combination of long, powerful legs, deep chest, flexible spine, and slim build allows it to reach average race speeds in excess of 18 metres per second (59 feet per second, or 63 kilometres per hour (39 mph)).[1][2][3] The greyhound can reach a full speed of 70 kilometres per hour (43 mph) within 30 metres or six strides from the boxes, traveling at almost 20 metres per second for the first 250 metres of a race. The only other mammal that can accelerate faster over a short distance is the cheetah, which can reach speeds of 109 kilometres per hour (68 mph) over 3-4 strides from a standing start.[4] Thanks have a nice day. :)

Interesting photos, but I don't agree with the way many owners deal with the dogs who have done with racing. The Spanish and Irish in particular are very cruel, throwing live dogs down wells and hanging them from trees when they cease to win them money.

We have an adoption policy here to Cheryl but I have to agree with Andrea re the Irish sending dogs to Spain for a cruel life. Great pics glad you had a good time. Hope you won!!!!
