Description

We had a huge storm last night. There was lots of lightning around. I decided to have a go at taking some pictures of the lighting. Did a setup inside our control room kitchen.I made use of a Typek A 4 paper box. At the bottom of the box i put a big coffee tin filled with sugar so that the mbox could not move around as it was very windy.I put the camera on top of the empty Typek box. My remote shutter release cable was also connected to my camera.Made use of Manual setting selected on bulb. Aperture - F10 and ISO - 100.Focal length - 55mm.Exposure time - 17 Seconds.I trust everyone will enjoy this attempt of mine.Of many attempts only two was successful capturing the lightning last night. God bless.

Nice capture - I've never had the opportunity to capture lightning, but I'd like to try one day. It looks like it's hitting that building (office complex? hotel? apartments?). One suggestion I have is that you might consider cropping it down to just the left hand quadrant (below the building). The whole right side of the photo is basically darkness & isn't needed (IMHO, anyway)...

Thank you for the advice my friend. The cropping that you advised will give this capture more impact. God bless.

Well done Christo. I agree that the crop would add much more drama to the photo.
