Description

Just finished the cover art for Zuron's Call for my publisher. I'm quite pleased with it. It went faster than I expected. This may be because I've had it planned out in my head for like a year or more. I love preraphaelism, and have been working toward it for a while now. This is the first chance I've had to really go all out on it. The preraphaelites were really the first illustrators, and almost always painted fantasy subjects, so it lends itself well to the genre. It was funny, though. I had planned it to be more complex, but anytime I tried to put in anything that didn't belong, the image stopped me, making it look wrong. Her cloak was supposed to have way more runes on it that her rank insignia as a druid priestess. But it didn't like anymore. I wish I could have defined the roses a bit more. But to get the saturated colors I like, you have to give up a little.

A good way to enhance edge detail and sharpness is to overlay a black and white 'sketch' with a layer style such as multiply. But anyway, you have composed a charming and intriguing scene that is quite pretty and promotes a mysterious mood. Excellent work!
