Description

I found this a few months ago. My dad (now deceased) is on the front row far right. In the far left background you can see the Pit-head of Burnley Colliery. The goal keeper looks very short by todays standards. My father loved football and politics. Drove me up the wall watching 24 hour news. . . . . but we became friends.

My dad was a Teddy Boy. Spent all his working life down the pit - from the age of 15. For the best part of two decades we did not get on because I got into Punk. We became friends through football and alcohol. Every England match or every Sunday televised game we would spend time together watching football and sort out the world.

Clearly very fond memories, we are all destined to one day become a sepia photograph, my own father died quite young at 45 so the photographs I have are of him relatively young. It's good you found some common ground and made peace... I'm sure we shall all meet up again at some stage in the next life... or at least we like to hope so. The footballs in those days were thick leather with laces... when you head one of those you knew it. Great photograph.
