Description

Gold King Mine Jerome, Arizona Whitall Tatum manufactured insulators under that name between 1922 and 1938, so that's how old this pretty purple glass must be. Whitall Tatum Wiki Here I don't know anything about the brown one ... Rod? :)

As a child I would walk along the old railroad tracks with my grandfather and collect those. They bring a fortune nowadays.

These are the coolest things; I see them every so often in antique stores and of course, they cost a LOT!!

Well this is a relief. I expected to see a gravestone chronicling the sad, short life of Whitall Tatum. This is much cooler.

HOLY FRAAAAAAAAAKKKK!!!! You found a PURPLE one in the wild??? OMG!!!!!!!! GPS, Please??? :-P Seriously - the purples are quite rare - especially in the 'wild' like this one. And rare = pricey. As I understand it, the purple color comes from all those years in the sun - the radiation gradually changes the color through some molecular changes in the impurities in the glass. When it was new, it was clear. That's a great find, and a wonderful shot, Tara! You just knew I'd be all over this..... The ceramic piece is much less rare, and much less valuable - I can't GIVE the dang things away... Looks like a Pinco, Lapp, or possibly Ohio Brass. Now... Did you climb that pole, or did Bill get you a quadcopter?? :-D

Great find & capture, but then spotting things like this that we mere mortals barely notice is one of your super powers, isn't it?

Superb capture my friend. "I don't know anything about the brown one" I put it there, I am the keeper of the insulators. They said "One that looks nice" and is "Not too expensive"
