Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Beautiful Fungi!

Amazing colour and fantastic capture and find. I would avoid eating this for reasons you may have experienced but more so because it can be mistaken for Cortinarius violaceus and some in the genus of Cortinarius are deadly poisonous. Those have been known to kill human's and pets through the years. if you get a reaction to fungi poisoning it's not pleasant.. usually plenty of toilet visits with both ends very active.. in the most poisonous types they will destroy the liver and kidneys.. even when somebody who is poisoned feels that are getting better, this is often an illusion before the final curtain. People thinking of suicide by this means should think again... it's an agonising death and certainly not always fast.

Love the ruffles! Charming things. I won't eat any mushrooms I didn't get at the store. Safer that way. :P

Interesting shots!

Two superb views of a real gem specimen! It is beautifully structured from both views, EXCELLENT! It seems to be a very poor year so far for me on the fungus trail, a lot less than usual anyway.

Wonderful macros on all three pictures. Love the color on the flickr image. The underside looks a bit like brain coral.

Something honey and I had planned but ran out of time as she is in the air right now bound for home. I am sad we missed the chance to do a fungi shoot. Oh well next year :)

Why take any chances? Better to take photos and eat other varieties!

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.

I like the underneath POV and the irregular gills instead the normal uniform gills. Maybe it is because of the twisted mushroom cap!

Nice find, well shot. I occasionally find these beauties here, but I haven't been spending enough time in the woods lately. Maybe it's time for a fungi expedition.
