I was testing out some new photo retouching software, and thought that our favorite "mean girl" Fawn would be the perfect candidate for a virtual makeover. The image on the right is a working-over of the one on the left. She was asked to forego her daily skincare regimen, which is: a layer of self-tanner, a layer of SPF 50 sunblock, a layer of bronzer, and then several layers of makeup. Not to mention a padded push-up bra and Spanx with booty padding. It takes a lot of effort being a pretty girl! There are some people who believe there's something immoral about photo retouching. All I can say is that the fashion magazine business is very different from the high school portrait business, and most young people don't really want to be reminded of all their breakouts. Some retouchers go too far, though. There's a big distinction between "wow, I look good," and "I look like a mannequin!"
