Description
Patterns in the bark of a manzanita tree, taken on a hike in the hills of Jacksonville. I've seen these kinds of patterns on many manzanitas, including some that are growing on my property & I find them fascinating & beautiful, but I have no idea what causes them...

This is just beautiful. I looked up manzanita bark (as I'm sure you did) and found loads about the peeling business, but nothing about this lovely patterning. It's so warm and polished looking. Gorgeous!

Very interesting shot!

Wonderful capture of the bark detail – I love how the red bark on manzanita contrasts with the green leaves.
