“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Awesome panoramic! :-)

What a magnificent, sweeping view, Bill! You did a great job stitching this together, bud! It's so hard to convey a view like this in a photo - or even a series of photos - but you did a masterful job here!
bobrgallegos
A most beautiful panoramic view!

Tuscon never looked so wonderful! And, a ZOOM is necessary if you want to see this panorama in all of its desert glory.

Amazing pano my friend. God bless.

It is a great vista Bill, but in zoom it seems to be lacking your normal level of detail, perhaps caused by the compression method?
bmac62
I agree. The level of detail is a bit underwhelming. The time was early afternoon and I was shooting pretty much into the sun (never a great idea):) However, the immensity of the scene kind of swept me up and made me want to share it with you all.

Awesome job on the pano. Thanks for sharing. :)

It's at times like this when I wish my screen was ultra wide to capture all the glory of the zoom, Brilliant shot Bill

Excellent pano bud. I have the big country theme going through my head now and images of the gorgeous Barbara Stanwick :)

Great job, hon! The conditions were abysmal, and you did a great job saving the scene. Nice!

Yes, ala Wayne, the landscape isn't filled with a lot of high and low points, but it is what it is, and you captured the sweep (as you say) and the feel of broad almost desolate atmosphere of these vistas very honestly. (If you go past chicago and into the countryside, you get broad detail-less vistas as well, and they have their own beauty.) (And btw---off-topic---whaleman's gallery is gone! I wonder what happened. I assume he's ok, because he's still showed up for comments here and there...) The hue here is a muddy green/brown, and one really does get the feel for the low sweep of this landscape---even with mountains in the background. And the sky goes from light to dark, too---perhaps a function of a pano, which covers so much area. But it does add to the drama. A low-feeling, burnt green landscape, and you put the pieces together seamlessly from all I can see. Not an easy subject---for that very bleak fact---but expressive all the same, and I like it a lot. (Btw, I just did a pano. I swore I'd never comment on one, but I did. I tried to make a pano once, but the parts argued, fought, one committed suicide, and another ran off with a shot by Diane Arbus. So it was a disaster. I know there are 'ways' to do them, but the few times I tried, I almost threw the camera out the window ((while it laughed its _ss off watching me struggle))...)
