Description

I keep getting the above error message. Poser (I have Poser 9) ran perfectly on Thursday, Friday this is what I got and Poser no longer works at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it now 5 times, each time fully adding all the service releases and everything and each time the error message is what I get. Does anyone know why this has happened and what I need to do now? I cannot use Poser at all now because of this. Thank you to all who answer!

Since it was working fine before, I'm not really certain. When I get a chance I'll try to do some research and see what I can come up with, Ruby.

there are some preference files that can get corrupted and it is okay to delete them as poser rebuilds them each start. what I did this last time I had an issue was during installing, I selected delete user preference files https://support.smithmicro.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2076/~/solving-weird-issues-with-poser-by-removing-the-preferences

Try updating your Adobe Flash Player. If its internal, (the library. Often it won't run/open without an update), its Adobe Flash, if its external, its Adobe Air. Most often, I find one of these to be the culprit. You could also try switching your browser from IE to Firefox & do the updates. I hear there is a huge problem now with Poser & IE. I use Firefox so I don't get that one. Hope it helps.

I had a similar problem with another program and it ended up being the video card drivers that were causing the problem. Graphics drivers were updated automatically so it took me a while to work it out. Try restoring your system back to before the last auto update and see if that has any affect, at least then you can narrow it down to a couple of suspects.

As Richard said, I would suspect a corrupt pref file as the first culprit. And I've also run into what Angel was describing with Adobe flash and Air. Also make sure your video card drivers are the latest & greatest.

Do you have a virus? I have had that happen with other programs when I had a virus.

This seems to be a problem to Windows users for some reason. Now, I don't have Poser 9 myself, and Im using a Mac. But I used Windows a few years ago, and I had a problem not so unlike this. And here is what I learned. Windows, for some reason, uses alot of files for multiple softwares. One of the can be the fameous Win32 file. When a software makes a change to one file used by other softwares, this tends to mess things up for another software. Im not going to say anything for sure, since I no longer use Windows, but it seems like you may have a conflict between two or more files that is used to run Poser 9. A comment here says you should try switching from IE to Firefox. I say you should try that. Her comment makes sense to me. Another thing you can do is to see if you use other softwares that share some files with Poser 9, and if you think you don't really need that software, I say delete it if its not important. The less softwares that share files, the less conflicts you'll get. Another thing I've learned when it comes to design softwares like Poser, Photoshop and so on, is that Windows doesn't quite like to run them and tends to crash. So If your aim is to use these kind of softwares, I say you should invest in a Mac. Yeah, I know its expensive and is hated by gamers and people who only uses their computer for Facebook, but you'll be better off in the long run. If you only use Poser and such for your hobby, then it might not be worth switching to Mac. But thats only my opinion and advice. I hope you will be able to sort out your problem with Poser 9, because I know how fun it is to be able to use your creativity and have fun with this kind of work. If I can find the answer to your problem that will solve this for you, I will let you know as soon as possible ;)

Instead of posting your problem in the gallery, please create a thread in the forum and provide as much information concerning the issue. Did you have a recent Windows update? Which OS are you using? Did you recently install IE11? There are others experiencing the same problem and you will find the answers at the forum.

hborre is correct, this needs to be a thread in the poser forum. BTW, are you using zbrush? If so, there is a common problem with GOZ plug in. If this is the case clear the zbrush cache and force GOZ to reinstall on poser. May take a few times.

This is the temporary fix until the hotfix is released: where your system Username is the location. AppData may be hidden. If you do not see it, you need to go to Control Panel, Folder Options, click on the View Tab, change to Show Hidden Files and Folders. Locate Poser.ini (may just be Poser if you are not showing known extensions) Open the file using Notepad. Locate the line LIBRARY_IS_AIR and change the 0 to a 1 Save and launch Poser

I agree with Savage Dragon my dear friend, it's indeed because of a update with Windows and with E11, There is something wrong with that update. My husband has it fixed for me. Now i can use poser9 again. I hope you can work this problem out....my friend.

I would do a system restore back to Thursday or Wednesday. Sounds like a Windows update may be the issue ?

This Looks like what happened to me! did you just upgrade to windows 8.1? if so that could be the problem I contacted Smith Micro thru their chat & found out I just needed to apply an update to Poser 2014 (they gave me a link) Contacting their chat thru the smith micro website is worth a try I found them very helpful- I'd pass on the link but I can't for the life of me find it!! If it works you will need to re-locate your content files as the update gives Poser amnesia as to where the are!! Good luck!
