Description

"Oceanside Lighthouse Holiday v2" *When one hears the word 'Holidays' it will bring images to the mind. Those images are memories of the past when the holidays happened with that persons past. So many times it's happened to people...but what images flash into the persons head first? The fun and happy times they had in the last couple years...or the images from long past from that persons experiences as a child...maybe they are happy and fun images about the Christmas day when they first got that cool bicycle or they got from Santa that huge killer Lego set or that sweet and pretty little Barbie doll like all their friends had. Whatever those memories hold, they're something that we can never seem to suppress and forget about...I personally have them too just like you do. I've had some good memories of the 'Holidays', but for some reason, the horror and torturous memories from my childhood always seem to be the strongest ones I see in my head first when I hear any word associated with this part of the year...and I have done everything I can to try to suppress them so that I don't think of them, but they win every time and they make me so sad, that the only way to deal with them is to dive deep into my work, creating artwork like this piece you see here. How I am able to create such beauty while thinking about the screwed up holidays I had as a child I'll never know...maybe they come out trying to replace those memories with better images like this rather than watching my brothers open up multiple gifts after gifts while I had just one to open but would just sit there and wait to open it, knowing that it'll probably be that three pack of underwear from Fruit of the Loom that I would seem to get every year...I can't remember if I was glad to have them because they say it's the thought that matters...but not to a child it doesn't...so if you are reading this and you have children, make sure that you treat each one of them in just about equal terms as the others because what you do for them will reflect back at them for the rest of their lives...so if you have the kind of family that places value on things that you give to the kids, make sure each will feel good about what they received and no more or no less than the others that you live with...because we never forget what we got...or didn't get...forever... Very lovely work John. Another way to deal with it, at least it works for me, is to look at the scene as 'harshly' as possible and say there it is, Accept what is that cannot be changed. I know that this is hard but it does work to eliminate those demons.

Thanks Mike! Yeah, I've looked at iot from every angle and came to a final conclusion that those people were simply just mean, closed minded, arrogant, manipulative a**holes...and when karma hits them it will hurt and when their judgement day comes, maybe they'll have to do it all over again...but this time they'll have to do it with no arms, blind and deaf and with two left feet...maybe they'll learn from that...that what I figure the people that have those afflictions, wrong people or someone in a previous life and now they must be humbled by their condition and hopefully learn their lesson...maybe...I just try not to think about it after the first one hits mostly, but they can cut deep sometimes and so I do what I must to get past those 'Demons' as you stated by sewing up the wound with creating from the pain as I did with this image! It works for a bit...then another will get pumped out for the next one! Thanks again Mike! Merry Christmas! JM
