I beg to disagree with rbc. The emotional content is fine. We don't know exactly what the story is. And the shield in the wing - the shield could easily be buried in the coverlets and secondaries of that huge wing. I think the pose is great and the staging is just right. I say, goooooood job!

You're both right. Had another look at the model in DAZ. The shield sits just inside the feathers and (i don't know the technical term), the arm of the wing. A slight rotation or down scale of the shield will probably fix it up. Cheers.

I agree with "Greywolf44" in the way that we don't know what the angel could be thinking and as for the shield, yes... I thought the same thing. It could easily be tucked beneath the wing and that in itself, is not the focus of this artwork. The focus is, is that, she's been through battle and could possibly be joyous over the victories she's had. And she could also be thinking about any future battles that she will encounter. So basically, this is a very good work of art and the mood is right and if we wanted to take the time... I'm sure we could all find something wrong with everything in this world we live in. But in our own little world, we create from within and what comes out of that, is partly a reflection of what is going on inside of us. So keep creating these beautiful works of art and this one in particular, is very well done!!!

Thanks. I actually don't mind constructive criticism, as long as it is given with the right intent (which i believe it was). I wouldn't have picked up the problem with the shield if it wasn't pointed out to me. Now i can go back in and fix it and make a better picture.

I'm not sure about what you are talking about either. I just had a quick look in your gallery. Your artwork is great. Agree with your comment about doing what you feel like doing. I've got a long way to go as well. That's why i appreciate any feedback, positive or negative.

I think the scene is fine. Nitpicking details is senseless. This is a hobby to be enjoyed. As long as you had fun making it, then it's fine.

Thanks Wolf. No offense taken by the earlier comment from rbchandler though. Besides, I've done 5 years of Kempo and ten years of boxing, there's a lot of people that have hurt me more than that in the past. ;-) I don't pretend to be an artist and most people will agree with me. I've got a lot of friends who are very talented artists and i'm sure they humour my work out of the kindness in their hearts ;-) Seriously though, we learn from our mistakes, so any negative feedback is great. It gives me an opportunity to improve my stuff. I don't think rbchandler meant anything bad with his/her comment. I generally have three rules i rely on in life; 1 - No backward steps. 2 - If you're not making any mistakes, then you're probably not trying hard enough. 3 - If you're not living life on the edge, then you're probably taking up too much room.

It doesn't look to me the shield is in the wing. Just looks like a funny shield shape. The expression looks like a warrior preparing to take flight and go into battle. I know you said "angry" but she doesn't look angry. I like her expression. I find it hard sometimes myself to get expressions to translate even when you put it on 1.00 for whatever expression you want. I would recommend getting a pack of poses and facial expressions from Emma and Jordi (about 10 bucks for one of the bigger ones) and start with one of those and tweak on them. Ironman13 is also a good vendor to get a pack where you can start with a look and then you can tweak yourself. Sometimes it is more in the eyes. Also, be sure you have V++ morphs sometimes that makes the expressions work better. Looks great to me. Love the reflection on the sword.

Thanks Shannon. This one sparked a bit of conversation...... I really struggle with "happy" expressions. Smiles are virtually impossible to do without looking stupid. I'm also struggling to do a zombie picture, which is really annoying me, as I love zombie movies. This is the first picture where i've played around with the mouth (except for my unfortunately unpopular cartoon characters). Usually i just move the eyes around and put a bit of a squint on the eyelids. The reflection on the sword is two things in photoshop. I used the lens flare filter and capped it with a brush stroke from Rons Angel Dust. Good to see you back here. Now you just need to post a few more renders.

Not that my opinion counts for much. First, I didn't even notice the shield until it was mentioned. Second, my impression was that she had just landed on her knee and was preparing to do battle.
