I have been into photography for over 40 years, and the pull doesnt lessen. As a family we have always been keen walkers, and that gets you to some interesting places.Ive recently been to Southern India as a member of an adult support team with our local community school to Chennai so the camera never cooled down i can tell you, (watch this space). I live in Chard South Somerset, and have fairly recently converted to digital, at first reluctantly, but now enthusiastically. Its great to hear others comments on your pictures and i am looking forward to loading up my space. Alan. Almost through my first week and inspiration levels have rocketed, thanks for all those comments they drive me on.

A very nice pic Alan. Do I detect a shortened index or is it bent and hidden from view??? I thought I would ask what others would be wondering!!

Except for the amplification equipment this is a timeless image. I imagined a Griot sitting and playing this in a village and telling the ancient stories to a rapt audience. Not what I expected. The music has a feeling of Spanish Gypsy rhythms. So I looked up Kora in Wikipedia and darned it didn't back up my observations. I'm listening to Si Naani now on YouTube. A terrific image. Thanks for the introduction.

Thank you Alan for sharing this beautiful photo and fantastic instrument. I've listen to it, and I like the warm sound of the strings, and the, a bit dreamy music. It's amazing how this man governed the instrument, by making the trills; and basso continuo playing, simultaneously with the melody. The strings sounds a bit like the strings of my mandolin, and my Spanish guitar. The instrument is very special to me, and how they have made it is amazing to see.
