Description

guess this is a black bear. never knew they was this small but I knew if he come after me in the woods he can kill me. note the size next to the fox which is the size of a middle size dog. This place had it all in animals. even a moose was there. There no moose's in louiaiana

Small for a bear, but I'd still hate to tangle with one! Very cool shot, Jock!

I heard that they are very strong for there size.I wouldn't want to meet one in the wild.A fine photo of these specimens.Be glad that Louisiana doesn't have any moose. They are huge and also quite dangerous if you disturb them.

He is a small one for sure... I've seen them as small here, around 4-5 hundred pounds. Even at that size they have the power of a mac truck and claws like daggers. Beautiful picture, sad though.

I've seen one bear on TV and attacked a person. Lucky the bear had a muzzle or that guy would have been gone. Aloha

He looks more like a Kodiak to me, seems too stocky for a black bear...yeah, and he's not black. Black bears are really black and hard to photograph because of that.

I agree with Jeff, but still an outstanding capture by you. some outdoor stores here have extensive stuffed animals, I guess to bring out the killing mood of "sport hunters". hunting for food is okay

Nice photo. I grew-up in Northern Michigan which has plenty of black bear, and that is not a black bear. The fur color, head shape, and hump on the shoulders tell me it is most likely a young grizzly bear.
