It was a quiet evening, the almost full Moon shared its light with the blazing torches placed at the small settlement, centered around the inn..
An angry magpie seems to have been disturbed, then the silence returned.
Iphis: You really tried to steal fra Pentwahir, The White Wizard?..
Nightshade: I was twelve..the winter was near so I needed both shelter and some money or valuables to survive to the spring..Yeah, I took his purse, unseen I thought, I opened the purse and suddenly I faced a giant wheezing snake!..I stood paralized of fear. What I had regarded a harmless old man arrived..I stayed with him for a year..All the bad things vanished, my life totally changed..This is the short version..
Iphis: Maybe it was the fate?..
Nightshade: Don't know..next he took me to Draco, The Crown's Ranger then...from that time I rode with them..think, what a life for an outcast boy!..
Iphis(smiles): You did it well since, I see..
Nightshade: I don't complain..mostly (smiles to himself)
Iphis: But the crown prince, my real father?..
Nightshade: I was in my early twenties when he came. The old king feared for his son's life because he lost his two other sons under weird conditions..So the prince should be much more safe among a rough bunch of lawmen feared by wrongdoes and loved by commoners..
Iphis: How was he..my father?..
Nightshade: Prince Ardanchecht? Very nice person, charming, a couple of years older than me..we became friends, we were very popular among the ladies, I could tell..no not the right moment..He was happy to get away from the dull life at the court..He became one of the guys..
Iphis: But he disappeared?..
Nightshade (serious): I still think of it..I was given the job to keep an eye on a six year old girl in a coastal village far north..Ardanchecht chose me to protect his most precious gem of his life..you..
Iphis: And I knew nothing..Hey, it was you saving me from the pond?..
Nightshade: You gave us a lot to do when very young..later, I'm really impressed..
Iphis (looks teasing): What a girl can do?.. But my real mother?..
Nighshade: Only Draco knew afterwards, he kept his tongue even to me after his retirement and me taking over..But the events clearly tell someone tries to exterminate the royal house of Korr, but who and why?..
From my novell I still work on "Sevaril". Sevaril is the sword of the ruler which Iphis must gain to get her throne with the help of a very individualistic and powerfull allies centered around the Crowns Ranger, Nightshade. Their enimies are many and dangerous but Iphis can rely on twenty of the most skilled: from magic, weaponry, killing, pickpockets, cooking, singing, tale telling, ingenuity, beer drinking and a little friendly demon not found his niche yet!

Trying to steal from a Wizard isn't a good move anytime, lucky Nightshade wasn't turned into a frog or something else and it all, has seemed to have worked out for the best, so far...ribbit, ribbit ! LOL Digging the evening lighting and detailed characters ! Christmas ~Cheers~
