Description

While we were feeding the birds at lunchtime recently, these two Swans started fighting. It got very serious and one of them was on the point of being drowned when one of our group managed to prize them apart with a broken branch from a nearby tree. This gave the defeated Swan enough time to escape to the mill stream on the other side of the river. We all know that this is a natural event on the river but it's not something you want to stand by and watch during your lunch break - hence the breaking up of the fight. The losing Swan may challenge the alpha-male again at some point and nature will take it's course, but peace was restored this time. ------------------------------------------ Original Photograph 25 Nov 2013
