Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

This really looks very fine and clear with that dark background, Andrea! You did a great job...., and where is the spider? ;-)

A super capture Andrea and nice to see it on the web.

They are so pretty! And while we have lots of webs here too, at least in the autumn, they NEVER get this covered with dew or mist or rain. I wonder if they use a different silk?

Denice doesn't know? I wonder if we should tell her? Some spiders use Teflon so the liquid won't stick. Two spectacular images. And this one is perfectly exposed. Temporary art at its finest.

I love both shots for completely different reasons, nicely found and captured, zoom really does this real justice.

Outstanding pic of the spider's creation, but, this isn't fair, I would have to drive several miles to our Museum of Natural History to see anything even remotely resembling this gorgeous web.

Beautiful! I like this one against the spruce. (At least I think it's spruce ... I can't tell for sure from this distance. Perhaps fir. There's a way to tell by feeling the needles. Fir needles are flat and soft to the touch. Spruce needles are square and sort of pokey/prickly to the touch. Flat, Friendly Fir. Square, Sticky Spruce. I only needed to be told once. A very clever memory trick!)

A superb photo.... :-)

gorgeous, both of them. we don't get them in the winter, the artists have all passed away or hidden themselves securely in some little niche somewhere for a long winter's nap.

Two mighty fine webs ... and that type of Fir-tree is something I couldn't grow here in my garden !!! is that a 'Douglas Fir' ? - I will always remember the smell of those, delicious ! now here is a thought, for another ingredient in a perfume, methinks ? BB
