Description

I've been experimenting again... Another one in the same series :-) This has more contrast than the previous one, but I felt that stark trio of black, white and red colouring justified it. This is another great new skin, although you can't really see its full quality except in the areas just around the eyes - funnily enough it's the Teen Josie skin from DAZ, which I usually wouldn't have even bothered to buy, because I don't render many teen figures, but to my delight it's turned out to be a really beautiful character set with remarkably good eyebrows. And I think it works beautifully for Claudia, who couples drama with a hint of vulnerability. Other products from DAZ are Udane Hair, and the TOA Triplet overdress with one of the Silkessence Thai Silk shaders. I think the parrotdolphin necklace and earrings are beautiful and did my best with various shaders. Still need to work on my metallic shaders, but they worked fairly well here. Must get round to doing some new illustrations at some point, but there's still one more portrait (at least) that I want to do... Thank you all so much for your kind comments on the last one - and I'm delighted to see some old friends still here.

HI Leander, If you don't have them already, try Sha's Shortcut Shaders: "http://www.sharecg.com/v/48025/related/7/Material-and-Shader/Shas-Shaders". The gold shader is particularly good. A tip on long ear rings. Most of them come with the origin set to slap bang in the middle of the object, or worse, at the hip or the feet which makes posing them a pain. Among many other useful utilities DeltaX15 has written a script to move the origin of an object. Assuming you only have the one earring object (which is preferable, a pair parented to the head requires splitting them in a modelling program). Load the earring on its own, and make sure it is in its default position un-rotated. Run the move origin script and set it to where it touches the ear-lobe. Now parent it to the head of the character duplicate it and place the duplicate on the other side of the head. Save them as a wearable object and you can now pose them hanging vertically whatever the head position. The script is here: "http://www.4shared.com/dir/722776/10801f63/DS_Scripts.html" Gary

Hello Gary - yes, you're absolutely right to pick up on the earring! I shall have to experiment with your tip about the script, so thank you for that... I do have Sha's shaders but very rarely use them; however, the lighting I use has changed since I first tried them out, so perhaps I need to give them another go. As ever, very grateful for the advice!

This is such a rich looking portrait. The skin did come out well, and I love the medieval looking jewels!

Thank you so much! Yes, I love these new skins - they do so much of the work for you. It makes it so much easier to get renders looking how you want them :-D The jewels are wonderful, aren't they? Beautiful models...
