Description
Some of you may have heard, we had a bit of 'weather' the other week. A 9.9m tide combined with storm force winds whipped up the sea a bit more than usual, the last time it got this bad was 1990. Above is the corner of the Marine Point developement, it's only been open 18 months. Most got away with water damaged carpets and stock, worst hit was the Travel Lodge on the other end. A structural survey has revealed the seaward face wall has been pushed in 4".....closed until further notice. It is worth noting, this developement is built on the site of the former New Brighton open air swimming baths. A very imposing structure with 5 foot thick reinforced concrete walls.....that was reduced to rubble in the 1990 storm. New breakwaters and a wider promenade seem to have done the job of reducing the damage this time around, but local news is reporting "it's not over yet ".........should be interesting!
On a personal note....this will probably be my last post for a while. On going family issues have finally forced a permanent move to look after my Father in Law. It will be into the New Year before we can get internet hooked up and to be perfectly honest it's not top of the priority list right now. I'd like to wish EVERYONE at Rendo a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.....Huge thanks for the support and comments and the pleasure of your company....so until we meet again, this is neiwil going QRT........

This is an incredible capture. Wow. What a great documentary photo, too. We really ought to have a category for documentary shots, both people and events like this one. Really cool photo.

I called my husband over to see this one. He says he would like to have been there with you to see that. He loves the ocean and storms, so go figure. Excellent bit of photography. Sorry to hear about the reason for your absence. Hope the move goes smoothly and things work out for everyone. Take care of your family and we will be here if you need a place to get away or vent.

What a choice of "good bye" image! Going with a huge splash! I'll sure miss you, mate! I sincerely hope you get things sorted out and that you have time for more photos and more from the Plant! As for me, I'm overworked, cracked at work Friday, stormed out at 15:15 and went to the health care center. ECG was OK, but blood pressure (despite medication) nastily high. I'm now on sick leave over the entire Christmas - New Year - 12th Night holiday periods. The rest of school staff is doing the same, preventing the principal from coercing anyone to work. She will now be forced to take a break (she needs it, considering how she's been behaving this last year) like everyone else. Have a Merry Christmas, Neil, and a Happy New Year and looking foreward to seeing/hearing from you again! :-)

Impressive photo! Seems you are going off just as I'm coming back. Sorry to have been quiet for so long. Will have fun catching up on all your stuff, though. Does this mean you'll be living in Wales now?
