Description
Well, not really. This looks like a sad scene, but looks can be deceiving. This is Koyuk, the dog who was the subject of my post a couple of days ago. The reason he's standing there is that he's holding out hope that someone will turn around, pick up the frisbee (which is just out of frame) one more time & toss it so he can chase it. A few seconds after I snapped this shot, he picked it up himself & went off happily after my friends. So, no, rest assured that he is not being abandoned to fend for himself in the dead of winter...

They're always so hopeful that something good will happen in the next few seconds! :) This is a great capture of that hopeful moment. On days when we drive, I'll often hand Bill bits of food as an on-the-road snack. A quarter of an apple, or a protein bar, or what-have-you. Today it was fruit and cheese, and Mandy tried to beg cheese off Bill while he was driving. She has no concept, of course. Fortunately she's small, so I just picked her up so he could eat his cheese in peace without driving us all off the road. :P
