I noticed in a home improvement store this morning that they are selling Birch logs about 8 inches long with a wick for burning. one had the bark peeled off like it's distant cousin here very sharp focus

Nice shot. Great clarity. It always makes me think they spent too much time in the sun and got burnt. I saw some program a while back about Roman soldiers in Britain. They would take the birch bark, write messages to their families and send them home like post cards.

Well seen. Beautifully intense color in both the tree bark & sky. I used to see similar trees in Vermont which we called parchment birches...
