Description

I'm back, and just a little post before the holidays...This is a re-post of a removed image---shot from under a pier (I fell through ice puddles about 40 times to get this little bugger!). It was a little blown-out by the light, but I liked the "table cloth" of snow, so here it is. Again, a very sweet holiday to you all! I'll be back after the holidays, Mark (A lot fuller, zoomed...)

Wow, that's an amazing ice tablecloth, with icicles like fringe on the bottom. Also a wonderful contrast of the blue building skyline against the white ice. Winter can be a pain but it certainly has its unique beauty, which you captured so well. We get icicles hanging from our roof that are 15 ft and longer. Quite extraordinary. Wishing you a blessed holiday, Mark.

That is such a great shot, I love the subtle colors and textures in that ice buildup on the pier, I'm sure that getting that shot was a pain, but the end result is quite spectacular!

The icicles remind me of some of the varied types of stalactites I saw in the Caverns of Sonora several days ago. What a spectacular photo with the ice cold/blue buildings as a backdrop. Ahhhh, winter in Chicago. And happy holidays to you too Mark:)

Yes, the sky is blown out, but that long row of icicles is spectacular & more than makes up for it - never seen anything quite like it. Happy holidays back at ya...

If the sky was a beautiful blue with white puffy clouds I would suspect you of replacing the sky! Winter skies are so often white ... this just looks normal to me. But boy oh boy, does this make me glad to be in Texas right now! LOL! Brrrr! As much as I love Chicago, I don't think I'd love it so much in winter. Happy Holidays, dear friend. I hope this winter season brings you much joy and healing.

Wow Mark, this really is one epic looking capture and one I'm delighted you shared with us. This one was worth all the trouble as you already well know as everyone is enjoying the icy table cloth effects. I have to say that Chicago through you're eyes is a real treat for the mind and soul.

Say, is that what they mean by hoar frost? Reminds me so much of the old man winter images, with the icicles hanging off the eyebrows, eyelashes and beard, that I've seen through the years. But I digress. You have captured, under the most adverse conditions, a stunning ambience, with an added touch of magenta, in this beauty. Sterling clarity, contrast and quasi silhouetting make this masterpiece a realistic reflection of the brrrrrrrrrr season. Something I will never experience at sea level in perpetually arid and warm Southern California. Happy Holidays to you, my friend.

What a stunning lacy tablecloth! You're so lucky to live where you can see sights like this. We never get anything so lovely here. Maybe I'll have to think about moving...again... OK, maybe not. Marvelous shot, Mark, and happy holidays to you!

This is beautiful, and brrrrr, so cold. The sky is perfect for such a day, when the sun seems to give light, but no warmth. The blue of the buildings say cold, the light says cold, and OMG that gorgeous table cloth says cold. Superb capture of winter beauty. Joyful holidays and a wonderful and peaceful new year to you.

This is an absolutely stunning shot of your beautiful city, Mark. A shot I never saw any other place. I mean the style. I so love the colors you have created in it. The clarity is a feast and so are all the icicles. I really really love this shot. Yes, you proved me right, that I was so sure you would be a great photographer and you did it in NO time. I am SO proud of you, :)))))))))))))))
