Another wall paper that needs a full size view.
Ninshubar was the vizier to the supreme Akkadian Goddess Ishtar. She has become my favorite character in my Ishtar series. She is a delightful blend of beauty, brains and courage combined with a forthright loyalty to her impetuous and always dangerous cousin Ishtar.
In a creative writing course I took several years ago the instructor said all the stories of the world have already been told and all we do now is rewrite them based on the classics. If true then the story of Ishtar and Ninshubar is certainly the oldest story examining the dynamic two way power play between someone born to rule and a loyal advisor who serves them. These stories were laid down first by Enheduanna, the Akkadian priestess in her songs to Ishtar and are the oldest stories with an established author in existence.
For those who follow the modern dramatic series Lost Girl, you will see that the deep relationship between the protagonist Bo and her ultra loyal sassy, sexy, sidekick, Kennsey is but a retelling of the dramatic relationship between Ishtar and Ninshubar.
By the way, if you haven't picked up on Lost Girl yet and you are a lover of dark fae fantasies I cannot recommend this series enough. It is extremely well written, witty, complicated, sexy and reeking of high end drama.
