Description
Captured 12/23/13, very early in the am, somewhere within the vast perimeter of the neighborhood.
One finds all kind of interesting things lying about on the sidewalk and street.
The shadow reminds me of a shark.
And, if you're wondering, this wasn't my Granny Smith apple. I eat only the red varieties.

Excellent shot, great capture!

It does look very much like a shark! Good eye to spot that. What a waste of a perfectly good apple! I suppose the birds probably got some of it, at least I hope so. Excellent shot, Harry, with really good light control and composition!

This is definitely a freshly discarded apple. Probably too tart for the eater. Cool shadow.

Looks like someone has a problem finishing what they start. Nice job on the capture, Harry.

(You said this wasn't your apple: If you wanted to freak out your fans, you could take a shot of you putting that apple to your mouth, eliciting a slew of "eeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuw"s from the crowd, lol. A little dramatics to freak people out...) (That's ok, I wouldn't do it either: You don't eat things off the street in this city...) A wonderful minimal shot. Love the textures on the sidewalk, and how the apple crosses the striation-lines perfectly. And I like the moisture from the apple, in the area directly below. The shadow does look like a shark---and it's so bold and unbroken! It could've been painted on! Amazing the shadows you get in these early morning shots...Also, the cropping is perfect: The proportions on left and right of the apple-and-shadow seem wholly matched; as do the proportions above and below. Such minimalism demands perfection of proportion---which is sometimes all minimalism has to offer in the way of poetry---and it's all perfected here. And the browner areas of the fruit are foils to the fruit itself (and in line with the shadow, too). A perfect example of your poetry in minimalism approach. And the light and shadow are, as always, beautiful.
