I've trying to figure out what makes me love the texture of the characters so much. Then it dawned on me, they look almost as if they were done in oil pastels. Super job.

What a gorgeous scene! I love mermaids, so this is so beautiful to me. It is like a photograph, such realism! And I love the way you did the "fish" part of her, really lovely! Of course we mostly see mermaids in a romantic light, especially when it comes to their interactions with humans..men, usually. But there is a darker side...the mermaids who lure their victims with their beauty, and then pull them down to the deep where the helpless victim is drowned...and then eaten. Gorgeous render!!
